Sleep Outside the Box!
Mattresses shipped in box, what you need to know, The Truth!
Why do we see a mattress commercial every 10 minutes on TV or on a pop banner, gel and foam beds shipped in box seem to be only mattress advertised anymore, Why?
Think about it, stuff some foam into a vacuum sealed bag, box it, ship it. Very simple, very cheap! The greatest cost to these mattress in a box companies is their Advertising! You see a commercial every 10 minutes, for a different company making nearly the same thing. Why? Because the product is Inexpensive to produce, with a HUGE profit margin, leaving a boat load of money for advertising.
Lately, a bed in a box company said that mattress stores are a rip off. I tend to agree because they also have a huge profit margin, sales commissions , warehousing overhead, logistics, etc. But at least the consumer can experience the product, try different technologies and receive personalized service.
However, a Bed in Box is a far greater waste of money. 8 to 9 inches of polyurethane foam, layered with a couple of inches of memory foam and some wonder-mystical gel, cost pennies to these suppliers while the consumer is paying nearly $800 for the average bed in a box.
In the 70’s water beds had a similar run on the market, the bed in a box is today’s water bed, it’s a fad, it’s a Sponge Bob Square Bed that will change in feel, soften over time, smell up your bedroom, wreck your marriage and will torture your lower back as you try to roll over through out the night. ( my experience as a person with multiple spinal fusions, suffering from daily, high level pain)
” But the reviews are so high”
Yes, reviews are high as they are solicited immediately following delivery. They send you emails asking for your reviews, of course you give them 5 stars – you didn’t have to deal with sales people, price was reasonable, shipped to the house, felt great.
Ask for the same review in 6 months, 2 years, or 5 years down the road. The reviews are always strong at the beginning, we see these customers a year or more down the road and they are no longer bragging about their $800 mistake.
States like California are charging recycling fees on mattresses for a reason. The dumps are over loaded with cheap, “New Concept” mattresses. Foam is not like Steel, dumps can’t sell foam to Steel recycling services for high dollars, what happens to all that foam?
The Sleep Squad Sleep System let’s you shop online and shop in person, at the Same Time. “Click and Mortar Stores” are the future or mattress retail. Lay on the bed while shopping Online is the way to shop for better Sleep and honest pricing.
The customer should be able to try the mattress while having space and time to shop for that product online, check its reviews, on the spot with their mobile phone.
Salespeople try and prevent this in order to protect their commission, but it’s what the customers wants.
A customer shouldn’t be run off by pushy salespeople to shop online at home. Nor should they be required to “Risk It” and buy a bed in a box that they have never tried.
The instore consumer has to believe a salesperson, the online shopper has to believe advertising and solicited reviews.
Apple figured it out with their retail stores, when will the mattress industry start thinking “Outside of the Box”
